Catharine Sutton

Passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Bethany Manor where she had been a resident for the past four years. Catharine had resided at Woodbrook Assisted Living Facility prior to moving to Bethany. She was born on November 17, 1915 in Elmira, the daughter of Robert and Lena (Mencing) Petrie. Catharine was predeceased by her husband John A. "Bud" Sutton on November 20, 1969. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law John R. and Nancy Sutton; grandchildren, John William (Amy) Sutton and Elizabeth Catharine Sutton; great-grandsons, Matthew and Nathaniel Sutton. Catharine was a 1937 Elmira College graduate. She retired from the Chemung County Department of Social Services in 1985. Catharine was a long time member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow. Private interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
