Carol Elizabeth Shaline

Elmira: Age 87 passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Carol was born and raised in Binghamton NY, alongside her brother Gary Dietz (Rayleen). After high school she met and married the love of her life, Robert Neil Shaline. They were married for 61 devoted years until his passing in 2017. Together they raised four children, Wayne Shaline of Elmira, Sheryl Manwaring (Glenn Strong) of Elmira, Sharon Cash (Anthony) of Wake Forest NC, and Linda Hanf (David) of Hawley PA. Carol was a grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of seven. While her children were school age, she drove a school bus for the Elmira City School District, so she could be home with them when school was out. She later drove a Chemung County transit bus. Carol loved the many family camping trips, her three horses, her many dogs and cats over the years, but especially her cat Bo, who was her companion during her alone years. She always had a vegetable garden and taught her girls to can. Her favorite flower was her violets, but she also got tremendous joy from the flowers that bloomed in her yard. Carol had a passion for crafts and sewing. After retirement Carol and Robert were snowbirds, spending winters in Florida. They broke up the long 24-hour drive by stopping halfway in North Carolina and spending time with their daughter Sharon and son-in-law Anthony. Carol was a devout Christian, loved the Lord, and will now be joined again with her husband in heaven. Burial will be on Monday, November 10, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Bath National Cemetery, Bath NY.
