Carol Hillman

Age 63, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Carol was born in Elmira a daughter of Shirley D'Onofrio Hillman and the late Carl H. Hillman. In addition to her mother Carol is survived by siblings and their spouses, Diane and Ken Houser of Elmira, Mark and Barb Hillman of Elmira, Linda and Gary Tyra of Pittsburgh, Sharon and Daniel Lodico, Carl "Butch" and Tina Hillman, Nancy and David Sullivan, Matthew Hillman, all of Elmira, Michael Hillman of York PA; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol was a graduate of EFA and earned both her Bachelor and Master's degrees from Elmira College. She had worked for many years in the New York State Corrections system starting as a teacher and retiring as a counselor from the Elmira Correctional Facility. Carol had a great love for dogs. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St. Elmira, on Monday, JANUARY 30, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, JANUARY 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., St. Patrick's Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. The Hillman family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. David Kung and caregivers Wendy Cota, Laura Brown, Becky Tillotson, Connie Judd, and LuAnn Hannan for all the kindness and care they provided to Carol during her illness.
