Bridget Shields Nugent

Bridget Shields Nugent, age 53, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, leaving behind her unmistakable spunk, boundless energy, and loving spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Bridget is survived by her beloved children, Joey (his significant other Jessica) and Ellie, their father Neil Nugent, and her grand-pup Manley; who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Kristin and Ed Osburn, Ellen and Joe Piasecki, Marty Shields, and Joe and Lauren Shields; best friends, Dawn Dimon and Jillian Knuth who remained by her side through every season of life. She was predeceased by her son Luke and parents Pat (Kane) and Bob Shields.

A dedicated nurse at Arnot Ogden Medical Center for 14 years, Bridget poured her heart into caring for others. Her compassion, strength, and fierce determination inspired both her patients and colleagues. Nursing was more than a career for Bridget it was her calling, and she approached it with unmatched passion and grace.

Even throughout her dance with cancer, Bridget handled every day with grace, courage, and gratitude, always finding beauty in the little things and reminding those around her to do the same.

Bridget will be remembered for her laughter, her fire, and the love she gave so freely to family, friends, and all those lucky enough to have known her. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and joy will live on in the hearts she touched.

She is now at peace and reunited with her Lukey. 🧡

Bridget will be celebrated on Monday October 20, 2025 at the Hilltop Inn, 171 Jerusalem Hill Elmira, NY. Her family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a service and reception immediately following to embody her spirit.
