It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brenda Lee Starkweather, who departed this world on March 29, 2026, at the age of 66. Brenda passed away peacefully at her home in Horseheads, NY, after a courageous battle with several illnesses, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.
Brenda was born on December 20, 1959, in Elmira, NY, to her loving parents, Donald and Sylvia Brimmer. She was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her, bringing warmth, joy, and an unwavering spirit of kindness and generosity to her community and family. Brenda graduated from Horseheads High School in 1978, where she cultivated friendships that would last a lifetime.
On May 11, 1985, Brenda married the love of her life, Kevin Starkweather. Together, they shared a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and companionship for 40 wonderful years. Brenda's life was enriched by her family, and her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her cherished granddaughters. Her heart of gold touched countless lives, and her legacy of love and compassion will forever remain in our hearts.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Donald, and Sylvia Brimmer; her son, Christopher Starkweather; grandchildren, Christopher Starkweather Jr., and Erica Starkweather; her sister, Patricia Brimmer; mother-in-law, Edna Starkweather; father-in-law, Emmons Starkweather; brothers-in-law, Gary, Christopher, and Wayne Starkweather; Steven Springstead; George Snavely; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Forsythe.
Brenda leaves behind a devoted family who will continue to honor her memory: her loving husband, Kevin; daughter, Becky Brimmer; beloved daughter-in-law, Brandi Starkweather; treasured granddaughters, Meghan Brimmer, Brianna, and Olivia Starkweather. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary (Harold) Milks, Betty (David) Combs, Cindy (Skip) Stebbins, and Dorothy (Tim) Baldick; her brothers, Donald (Donna) Brimmer and William (Winnie) Brimmer; and sisters-in-law, Audrey Starkweather, Sandra Snavely, Luann (Jeff) Gray, and Melody (Marty) Springstead-Cooper, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry forward her spirit and love.
In this time of mourning, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Brenda's sisters, Mary and Betty, and her nephew, Jeffery Starkweather, for their devoted care and unwavering support.
A celebration of Brenda's life and her profound impact on those around her will be held on a date to be announced, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the indelible mark she left on our hearts.
Brenda Lee Starkweather will forever be remembered for her immense compassion, her unyielding love for her family, and her ability to touch the lives of everyone she met with her kindness. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so generously gave in life.
