Elmira: Age 83, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Bud was born in Elmira on September 12, 1930, a son of Raymond and Margaret (Lyons) Wood. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine DeRico Wood and brother Kenneth Wood. Bud is survived by daughter and son-in-law Linda and Norm Theetge of Lowman with children, Michael, Angie and Norm, Jr. (Mary); son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sue Wood, Elmira with son Christopher; son Nicholas J. DeRico with wife Lisa King, Elmira and children Lotus King and Aden DeRico; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Donna Wood, Horseheads; sister-in-law Mary DeRico, New York City; great grandchildren, Kyla, Lucy and Evelyn; along with several nieces and nephews. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was an avid bowler with Dixie Lanes and Elmira Bowling Center being his favorite spots. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Interment, with military honors, will take place at Woodlawn National Cemetery at a later date. Bud's family would like to extend a special thank you to granddaughter Angie for the loving care she provided to her grandfather over the last several weeks and the staff of CareFirst for the their care and support.
