Betty Brown

February 27, 1921 — January 22, 2019

age 97, passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Monday, January 21, 2019. Betty Jane was born in Elmira a daughter to John B. and Laura Webb Brown. She was predeceased by her five siblings, Grace Hall, Daisy Brown, Winifred Storm, Ivy Mattison and John Brown II. She was recently predeceased by her lifelong best friend Ann Crossed Ross. Betty Jane had a special place in her heart for dogs and was predeceased by a multitude of canine companions she had over her lifetime. She is survived by nephew John (Christine) Brown III Boynton Beach FL; great niece Denise (Hank) Glowaski of Elmira Heights NY; several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Betty Jane had worked at Remington Rand for many years before a career change led her to being a waitress for many more years at Moretti's Restaurant in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Burial will take place on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing may remember Betty Jane with a donation to the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira NY 14903. Betty Jane's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the 3rd floor staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the wonderful and loving care they provided to her over the last eight years.
