Whitford, AnneLouise M. Of Elmira, moved on to a better world on July 5, 2016. Anne was born at St. Joseph's Hospital on January 31, 1943. She is survived by her husband of 47+ years Francis E. Whitford, sons and daughters-in-law David N. (Amber Lee) Whitford of Sacramento CA, Martin E. (Alyssa Hayes) Whitford of Trumansburg, NY, and Phillip J. Whitford (Bethany Fallgren) of Mt. Hood Village, Oregon; special daughter Jamie (Jack) Mullen of Monaca, PA; grandchildren Maliki G. Whitford of Ithaca, Zebulon L. Whitford of Trumansburg, NY, and special grandchildren Chloe J. Bailey and Quinten Mullen of Monaca, PA; best friend Linda Lee Bilyk of Elmira; brothers Martin and Edward Anderson of Dahlonega, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law William S. and Margaret D. Whitford, Dennis J. and Carmela J. Whitford of Elmira, Brian D. Bailey of Pine City, Suzanne E. Whitford of Horseheads, Kevin J. and Claudia Bailey of Kalispell, Montana; "sister-in- love" Joy Anderson "Aunt Joy" of Horseheads; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Anne was a graduate of Ss. Peter and Paul Grammar School and the Southside High School Class of 1961 (Go Hornets!) where she was a marcher and involved in plays and organizations. She was a long-time employee of Nichols Discount where she ran the jewelry department and set up jewelry departments in new Nichols stores throughout the east coast. She was a life-long member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church (Blessed Sacrament Parish) where she was a member of the Legion of Mary, an altar cleaner, a Eucharistic minister, and a seventeen-year member of the RCIA Committee. From the birth of her first child, David, she decided to be a stay-at-home mother. She was also a "mother" to many children who came into her home. She taught some to cook, cut some hair, explained about life, and introduced others to the world around them, including touching cows. Anne was a world-class listener, sitting with many people who needed to empty their minds and hearts. She was a basketball scorekeeper, an expert seamstress and crocheter, a superb cook, a good neighbor, a great friend, and a (there is no adjective capable of describing her) wife. She will be honored in a Mass of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul AnneLouiseChurch on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 3:00 PM. In Anne's memory please wear colorful clothing, no suits. After Mass she will be remembered at the Hibernian Center.
