Anne Jones

Anne 88, formerly of Elmira, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 30, 2015 peacefully at her home in Horseheads NY. Anne was born on November 19, 1926, to Martin and Anna (McCormack) Kain. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Donald D. Jones in 1997 and by her sister Mary Margaret Meriwether. Anne is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Thomas Connelly of Elmira; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jamie Jones of Charlotte NC; sister Florence Tammaro of Elmira; brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Alice Kain of Elmira; grandchildren, Kathryn (Carmen) Clark, Jeffrey (Heather) Connelly, Christopher (Gina) Jones, Jennifer (Robert) Vandermark and Patrick (Corie) Jones; beloved great grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan and Luka Clark, Tyler Connelly, Jacob and James Jones, Marley and Ryan Vandermark; special nieces and nephews and several very dear friends. She was a "mother" to many. Anne graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1946 and worked in the office of Penn Yan Express. She was fiercely independent, out-spoken, and had a heart as big as the world. Her greatest loves were her family, her Roman Catholic faith and her many friendships. Her family will miss her apple pies, chocolate chip cookies, but most of all their "GG" who always made time for each and every one of them. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira NY. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery, Elmira.
