Anna Capozza Bonsignore

Age 90, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Anna was born in Elmira, a daughter of the late Daniel and Madeline Capozza. She is survived by her children, Michele (Anthony Jr.) DeSocio of Elmira, Joseph Bonsignore of Elmira, and David Bonsignore of San Diego CA; grandchildren, Brittany (Evan) Lloyd, Ryan (Carrie) DeSocio and Leonardo John Bonsignore; great grandchildren, Gemma and Britton Lloyd; several nieces and nephews including special niece and nephew Jean Lutes and Kenneth Wood. Anna was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Michael J. Bonsignore; sister Philomena Wood; brother Nicholas Capozza; her husband’s parents Anthony and Josephine Carozza Bonsignore.

Anna grew up on Elmira’s Southside where she attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and Southside High School. Upon marrying Michael, they raised their family on North Main Street. Anna was a devout Catholic and was a long-time communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. She and Michael had moved to Horseheads 20 years ago and had been communicants of St. Mary Our Mother Church since that time. Anna had worked as a secretary for Communication Workers Association for over 30 years. She loved music and dancing with her husband.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service, led by Father John DeSocio, will follow at 1:15 p.m. A livestream of the service will be on YouTube; please click McInerny Funeral Home.
