Anita Diana Allegrucci – Saxe, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. A longtime resident of Horseheads, NY, Anita was 85 years old and remained actively involved in her favorite activities.
She was born in Sayre, PA, daughter of the late Dino and Hilda (Malfatti) Allegrucci. A 1957 graduate of Sayre High School, Anita went on to graduate from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Elmira, NY in 1960.
While working as an assistant instructor in nursing at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Anita met the love of her life, Louis P. Saxe, Jr. and they were married on December 28, 1963. Her compassionate nursing career continued at the Arnot Ogden Hospital and included specialties in pediatrics, internal medicine, endocrinology, and obstetrics and gynecology.
The highlight of Anita’s life was spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren, Kateri and Ricky. She never missed a concert, play, musical, or soccer game, no matter how near or far. She also brought joy to family gatherings with her signature “super salad,” a beloved favorite that will never be replicated.
Anita also cherished her time with her Friday Night Friends and Nursing Pals. Whether exploring the region’s restaurants for dinner, meeting for lunch, or playing cards, she always welcomed good company and warm conversation.
Anita was a devoted cat lover and proud mom to Mitzie, Mickey, and Serina who brought her endless joy and companionship over the years. She also delighted in spending time outdoors tending to her beautiful flowers and found peace and purpose in caring for her garden. Her love for animals and nature was a true reflection of her kind and caring spirit.
As a woman of faith, Anita shared her love of God through active participation in Bible study, the Altar and Rosary Society, and Nocturnal Adoration. She now rests peacefully in His eternal embrace. She was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, and friend who will be forever missed and always remembered.
In addition to her parents, Anita was predeceased by her husband, Louis P. Saxe, Jr. and sister-in-law, Mary Sandra Carpenter. Anita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Richard Condon; grandchildren, Kateri and Ricky; brother-in-law, Patrick J. Saxe, as well as nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Anita’s services will be held this fall at a date and time to be announced, when all family and friends can gather together in remembrance.
Those wishing may honor Anita’s memory with donations to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
