Allene Stutts

Age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Bethany Manor, Horseheads. Allene was born in Akron OH a daughter of Norma (Owenby) and Thomas D. Lance. She is predeceased by her husband Ensel C. Stutts. Allene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian E. and Catherine Stutts of Big Flats and their daughters, Christina and Teresa; daughter and son-in-law Jana S. and David Langrehr of Sparta WI. Allene graduated from Wink High School in Wink TX, continuing her education at the University of Texas earning her B.S. Degree in Home Economics and M.S. Degree in Human Nutrition. She worked as a Research Scientist in laboratories at Auburn University, Auburn AL, and Texas A&M University, College Station TX. She met her future husband at Auburn University in 1950 and they married in 1951. Allene was a stay at home mom while her children were young, eventually going back to work at the family business, Stutts Scientific Service in Ontario CA, where she was vice-president. Allene continued running the business after her husband passed away in 1989, retiring in 1991. While living in California she was active in the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, the Republican Women's Club and her children's schools' parent organizations. Allene moved to Horseheads in 2013 to be closer to her son and his family. Services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Todd Memorial Chapel in Claremont CA. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Oak Park Cemetery, Claremont CA.
