Alice Stowell

Age 96, of Elmira, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born in Cleveland OH, and grew up in Millerton PA, a daughter of Reginald and Viola (Proudfoot) Westlake. She is predeceased by her husband John H. Stowell; son John Francis Stowell; sisters, Jeannette Westlake Brown, Virgeline Westlake Eighemy; brothers, Reginald and Robert Westlake; brothers-in-law, Thomas Stowell, Fr. Barnabas Stowell, O.B.M.. Alice is survived by her children, with their families, Dan and Lolly Stowell of Elmira, with sons, Dan (Kim), Bill (Robyn) and Ed; A. Catherine "Katie" Stowell of Elmira, with daughter Audrey Sturdevant (Jesse Nanka Bruce); John B. "Barney" and Cheryl Ann Stowell, of Covington PA, and his daughter Sarah (Sperry) Navone; Martha J. and Bill Reynolds of Elmira; great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Luke Stowell, Ryan and Brendan Stowell, Phoenix Nanka Bruce; sister-in-law Peggy Stowell of Elmira; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was a homemaker who was very devoted to her family. In keeping with her wishes a private family service will be held. Alice's family extends their sincere thanks to the 3rd floor staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the wonderful care provided to Alice.
