Alexander Olszowy

Elmira: Age 75 passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Alex was born and raised in Elmira, son of the late Katherine (Rohan) and Alexander C. Olszowy, Sr. He is also predeceased by his brother Robert C., son-in-law Keith S. Miller, and special companion Darla Ober. Alex is survived by his children, and their spouses, Alexander C. "Cash" , III and Diana Olszowy of Lawrenceburg KY, with his children, Alexander C. "Chase", IV (Jennifer) and Daniel L. (Casey); Timothy H. Olszowy and Kristy Langtry, of Campbell NY with his son Timothy T.; Cheryl A. Miller and Jeff Judson, of Pine City with her children, Pamela Alexis, Max D. and Shayna L.; Steven M. and Debra Olszowy of Stafford VA with children, Victoria K., Veronica L. and Derek L.; Lynda J. and Todd Thomas of Elmira with daughter Amelia; great-grandson, Riley Lane Olszowy; former wife Ruth A. Olszowy of Horseheads; siblings, Ann K. Trahan of Vancouver WA, Kathleen M. Hunt with husband Jack of Dade City FL, Joseph M. Olszowy of Crestview FL; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Alex was a draftsman for seventeen years with The American Bridge Works. He later went on to form his own drafting business, Web-Olz Inc., working for many years in the Elmira-Corning area. When his sons were growing up, Alex was active as a Boy Scout leader and was also active with St. Cecelia's Parish. More recently he volunteered at the VFW Post #901 on Elmira's Southside. Alex's hobby was gardening. He loved his vegetable garden and roses. Alex was a dedicated father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, 10:00 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
