Sylvia Ann Leach Maloney

Erin, NY: Age 65, died after lengthy illnesses on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Robert Packer Hospital. Sylvia was born April 7, 1945 the daughter of the late Frank P. and Yolanda (Pariso) Leach. She is also predeceased by her brother Patrick. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 17 years J. William Maloney, Jr.; daughter, Laura Rybak Sklba with children Greyson and Luke; son Anthony Rybak, with daughter Kylee; sister Mary Pedigo, with daughter Amber; brother and sister-in-law Francis X. and Leigh Leach; step-children, John W. Maloney, Susan Maloney, Ann (Jerry) Laney, William Maloney, with their children. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Sylvia fought a brave, long battle for many years. Her artistic talents, compassion, and graciousness, towards all will be greatly missed. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Interment will take place on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Sylvia with a donation to Elmira Animal Shelter, 317 E. Church Street, Elmira NY 14901. We extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Robert Packer Hospital, 2^nd floor ICU, as well as the entire Oncology Department. Special thanks go to the incredible team of professionals that provided Sylvia with overwhelming care and compassion at both St. Joseph’s Hospital and Robert Packer Hospital.
