BURT W. Litts

“Coach Litts”

Elmira: age 73, died unexpectedly at his home, on Friday, January 14, 2011. Burt was born December 23, 1937 in Johnson City, NY, the son of the late Burt and Ruth (Cole) Litts. Burt is survived by his children, Jeffery Litts of Binghamton, Todd Litts of San Francisco, CA, Gordon Litts of Venice, FL, and Sarah Jane Crane of Wellsburg, NY. Burt was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a machinist for various local companies, retiring from Hilliard Corp. Burt was heavily involved with the Elmira Small Fry Sports program in the 1980’s and was a former president of the organization. He was a big fan of old time movies and enjoyed hunting in his earlier years. Burt loved jazz music and was involved with the local jazz society for several years. He also enjoyed all types of Celtic music, and would occasionally wear his kilt out while enjoying a good Angus burger. He was a fully baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall, corner of Lena Place and Bancroft Road, Elmira on Friday, January 21, 2011. Visiting hours are from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with memorial services to follow.
