Vito D. Tangorre

Age 87, of Elmira, with his loving family by his side, died at his home, Monday, January 11, 2010. Vito was born in Elmira on January 24, 1922, son of Salvatore and Maria Addabbo Tangorre. He is predeceased by his brother Phillip Tangorre. Vito is survived by his wife Marie Lagonegro Tangorre with whom he just celebrated 63 years of marriage; son Michael J. Tangorre of Spencer, NY; daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Bruce Randall of Missoula, MT, Marie “Liz” and Gint Dargis of Barrington, IL; daughter-in-law Mary Lou Tangorre of Elmira; grandchildren, Barbara (Dan) Adams, Lori (Shane) Nichols, Amy Tangorre, Michael (Emily) Tangorre, Shannon (Joel) Sylvester, Shawn (Stephanie) Randall, Audra, Alexa, and Andrea Dargis; great-grandchildren, Marissa and Jacob Adams, Vanessa Sylvester, Lila and Molly Tangorre, Joseph Nichols; brothers and sister-in-law, Frank Tangorre of Elmira Heights, Tony and Angelina Tangorre of Horseheads; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Eugene Liquori of Elmira, Connie and Paul Laprade of Rhode Island; brothers-in-law, Richard Lagonegro, Joseph Lagonegro, both of Elmira; along with several nieces and nephews. Vito retired in 1978 from the Elmira Correctional Facility with 35 years of service. He was a long time communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 12:15 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Interment will take place at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Vito with donations to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning NY 14830.
