“Tick”
Age
88, of Elmira
passed away at home on Sunday, August 22, 2010, after an extended illness. Tick was born November 28, 1921 in Wellsboro, PA,
a son of Charles F. and Flora (Abplanalp) Losinger. In addition to his parents he is predeceased
by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Pat (Kirkpatrick) Losinger, and
brother-in-law Clarence Hicks. Tick is
survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Patty “Pat” (Anderson) Losinger. He is also survived by sons and
daughters-in-law, Charles M. and Kathryn (Jacque) Losinger of Reading, MA,
William A. and Mary Lou (Orlousky) Losinger of Elmira; daughter Judy M.
Ottaviani of Elmira; grandchildren, Scott Losinger, Peter (Jennifer) Losinger,
Carrie (Brad) Williams, Geoffrey (Tracy) Ottaviani, Nicholas Ottaviani, Jack
(Jane) Losinger, Brian Losinger, Michael Losinger; 6 great-grandchildren;
brother and sister-in-law, Earnest Glen and Beryl Losinger of Warminster, PA;
sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Hicks of Rushville, PA, Janet and
William Brown of Rome, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. Tick was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, seeing
extensive action throughout Europe during
WWII. He retired as a printer from the
Elmira Star Gazette with over 30 years of service. Tick was an officer of both the Elmira
Typographical Union and the New York State Empire Conference. He was active in a number of sports including
baseball, softball, bowling and golf. Tick
was a charter member of the Chemung County Sports Hall of Fame and the Elmira
Sports Hall of Fame. He was also a long
time member of the Elmira Elks Lodge #62. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home,
corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Thursday,
August 26, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A funeral service will follow at 6:15 p.m., with Tick’s nephew Rev. W.
Michael Losinger officiating. Interment
at Forest Lawn Memorial Park
will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in Tick’s memory may be directed to
the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 945
County Road 64, Elmira, NY 14903.
Officers and members of the Elmira Elks Lodge #62
will meet at McInerny Funeral Home at 5:45 p.m., Thursday, August 26th,
to conduct a service for our brother Tick.
