Elmira: Age 65, passed away
Wednesday, January 25, 2012, after a long battle with cancer, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded
by her loving family. Sharon was born August 30, 1946, a daughter
of the late Edwin and Mary (Gressel) Philbin.
She is also predeceased by her husband Joseph M. Pearte, Jr. and brother
James Philbin. Sharon is survived by her
children, Lisa M. Mallacoccio, with husband Vern, J. Michael Pearte, and Maria
T. Springer with husband Dave, all of Elmira; grandchildren, Christie (Adam),
Elizabeth, Monica, Jackie, Andrea, Vanessa, Angela, and Dominick;
great-grandchildren, Damon, Elijah, and Jayden; brother and sister-in-law, Lynn
and Marjorie Philbin of Greenville, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret
and David Redfield of Erin, Kathleen and Peter Dineen of Boxford, MA;
brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, George “Mack” Pearte of Ellicott City, MD,
Mary Jo and Ralph Rowland of Virginia Beach, VA; special family friends, Julie
Cady and her son Errick Hall of Corning; along with several nieces and
nephews. Sharon was a member of the 3rd
Order of the Dominicans, a long time member of Chemung County Right to Life,
and a life long communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Her greatest joy was her time spent raising
her children, and caring for her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to
McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts.,
on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral
home on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Elmira.
Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
