Ruth J. Evans

Elmira: Age 64, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Ruth was born in Utica NY, April 15, 1947, the daughter of the late John J. and Helen Jerzak. She is also predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Evans. Ruth is survived by her daughter Lori Evans-Munari, with husband John, and their daughter Lauren, of Middle Village NY; beloved companion, Tom Generas of Elmira; brothers-in-law, John P. Evans, of Elmira, with Wanda Conjorio, and Bob Evans of Horseheads, with wife Cindy; nieces and nephews, Jonathan (Stacy) Evans, James Evans, Meghan (Robert) Schlock, Matthew, Melissa, and Mark Evans; cousins, James and Jackie Kubat of Utica NY; and special family member, Barbara Sanford of Tampa FL. Ruth was a graduate of Elmira College, where she was an active member of the Alumni Association. After her college graduation, Ruth started her career with Chemung County Department of Social Services. She worked for the county for 37 years, retiring as Director of Second Place East. Ruth’s great loves were her family, friends, her career, and her pets. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
