Mary
Elizabeth Houghtaling
Age
72, formerly of Elmira,
passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.
Mary was born in Elmira
on August 4, 1938, the daughter of the late John and Catherine Aderhold.
She was predeceased by loving husband of 46 years, Ronald Houghtaling,
sisters, Jean Decker, Joan Poppleton, and brother Donald Aderhold. Mary is
survived by daughters, Lynn (Thomas) Rodriguez and Julie Houghtaling,
grandsons, Dylan Snyder, Jared and Drew Rodriguez; as well as several nieces
and nephews. Mary was a graduate of Southside
High School, Mansfield
University, and Elmira College.
She served as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital
and later as a school nurse teacher for the Elmira
City School
District before retirement and relocation to The Villages, Florida. Mary was
a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She touched the
lives of all who knew her with her kindness, warmth and compassion. She
and her loving partner in life, Ron, spent their retirement years, happily,
with lifelong friends in their Florida
home enjoying life to its fullest. Calling
hours will be held on Monday April 25, 2011 at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street
between the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at
the funeral home on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 12:15 p.m., followed by a Mass
of Christian Burial St. Mary's Church at 1:00 p.m.
