Wojnarek
Elmira: Age 88, died Monday,
November 22, 2010, at Arnot
Odgen Medical
Center. Leonard was born August 7, 1922, the son of
Anthony and Agnes (Wojzas) Wojnarek. He
is predeceased by his wife Mary Colson Wojnarek; brothers, John, Florian,
Francis and Bernard; and sister Sophie Rohde.
Leonard is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sharon and William
Knott of Elmira; grandchildren, Meredith (John) Walker of Indian Trail NC and
Colin (Vinka) Knott of Novelty OH; great grandchildren, Megan Walker, Ryan
Walker and Kristian Knott: sisters-in-law, Doris Clark, Olive Wengel, Dorothy
Colson and Norma Garrison all of Elmira; several nieces and nephews. Leonard was a U S Army veteran serving his
country during WWII. He worked for over
30 years at Remington Rand, before going to work for St. Casimir’s Church, from
where he retired. Leonard was a life
long communicant of St. Casimir’s Church.
He was member of the White Eagle’s Club, a member of the Elmira Sports
Hall of Fame for his softball accomplishments and a member of the Polish National
Alliance Sports Hall of Fame. Family and friends are invited to McInerny
Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, on Friday, November 26,
2010 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A
prayer service will be held at 12:15 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Casimir’s Church.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may remember
Leonard with a donation to Meals on Wheels, 150 Fox Street, Elmira NY 14901

Elmira NY 14902.
