Joyce D. Hastings

Elmira:  Age 82, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at her home.  Joyce was born May 24, 1928, a daughter of the late Frederick and Marion Follinsby Duhl.  She is predeceased by her sister, Marion Maxwell and brother, Jack Duhl.  Joyce is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Elaine Hastings of Elmira, John’s daughters, Kelly Hastings, Leigh and her husband Aaron Correia of Fort Campbell, KY, Kerrigan Hastings, and Elaine’s daughter, Allison  Husted of Wellsboro, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Mark Schneider of Summerville, SC, with son, Matthew Schneider; sister, Carolyn Scheepsma of Elmira; sister-in-law, Yvonne Duhl of California; brother-in-law, Robert Maxwell of Pittsburgh, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. Joyce retired from McNamara-Carroll Insurance Company. For many years, Joyce was a committed Chemung County Republican Committee person, known for her great sense of humor, a friend of Bill's, and more recently, an avid Internet solitaire card player.

 Joyce was devoted to her family, children and grandchildren. She was someone who many of her family and friends looked to for advice, and her spirit will live forever in the hearts of those left behind. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours.  Those wishing may remember Joyce with a donation to either, Meals on Wheels, 150 Fox Street, Elmira, NY 14901, or SPCA, Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
