Josephine D. Rainey

Age 84 of Elmira, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Josephine was a daughter of the late John and Emma (Cook) Belloma. She is predeceased by her husband Francis R. Rainey Sr.; grandson Brad Polk; brothers, Albert, Thomas, Michael, Frank and Robert Belloma. Josephine is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Francis Rainey Jr. of Elmira, Dominick and Kris Peterson Rainey of Atlanta GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and John Polk, Theresa and Robert Murdock all of Elmira; grandchildren, Kris Rainey (Steve Good) of Elmira, Adam and Erin Rainey of Portland OR, Lauren Rainey of Atlanta GA, Kara and Jeff Phillips of Hamlin NY, Ryan Polk, Rainey Murdock and Michael Murdock all of Elmira; great-grandchildren, Emma Straight, Benton Good and Harper Rainey; brothers and sister-in-law, Joe and Mary Belloma, John “Mickey” Belloma all of Elmira; sister Mary Shaw of California; sister-in-law Betty Belloma of Elmira. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and her extended family at Winchester Optical where Josephine had worked for many years. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, on Monday, June 7, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:15 p.m. Burial will take place Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Josephine’s memory may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
