Pearte, Jr.
Elmira: Age 67, passed away,
Sunday, June 5, 2011 at St. Joseph’s
Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born March 13, 1944 in Norfolk,
VA, a son of the late Joseph M.,
Sr. and Sara (Paul) Pearte. He is also
predeceased by his brother-in-law James Philbin. Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years,
Sharon Philbin Pearte; children, Lisa M. Mallacoccio with husband Vern, J.
Michael Pearte, Maria T. Pearte with fiancé Dave Springer, all of Elmira;
grandchildren, Christie (Adam), Elizabeth, Monica, Jackie, Andrea, Vanessa,
Angela, and Dominick; great-grandchildren, Damon, Elijah, and Jayden; sister
and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Ralph Rowland of Virginia Beach VA; brother
George “Mack” Pearte of Ellicott City MD; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Lynn and Marjorie Philbin of Greenville NC, Margaret and David Redfield of
Erin, Kathleen and Peter Dineen of Boxford MA; special family friends, Julie
Cady and her son Errick Hall of Corning; along with several nieces and nephews. Joe was a proud U S Air Force veteran and was
involved with activities that were helpful to fellow veterans. He was instrumental with getting the Veterans
Memorial placed at Fitzsimmons Cemetery in Southport. Joe worked for the FBI in Washington,
DC for a few years before moving to Elmira with Sharon. He then worked for the U S Postal Service,
retiring after 35 years of service. Joe
was a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post # 154 and a long time
communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Joe’s Mass of Christian Burial will take
place Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church. Interment, with committal prayers and
military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation to the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post #154, 236 Scottwood
Avenue, Elmira
Heights NY 14903, in Joe’s memory.
