Joseph Edward Gill

“Ed”

Age 84, formerly of Elmira, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Elcor Health Services, Horseheads. Ed was born March 14, 1925, son of Justin and Julia Cowley Gill. Surviving are cousins, Jack and Marcia Reidy, Art and Marion Gill, Gert Gill, Lola O’Dell, Helen Roe all of Corning NY, Norm and Nancy Foster of Snyder NY, Charles and Mary Claire Adams of Richmond VA. Also surviving are many other cousins and good friends. Ed was a graduate of Elmira Catholic High School and the College of Holy Cross, class of 1949. He was a long time communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #229. Ed was also a life long avid Yankee fan. Friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, Elmira on Monday, January 18, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, Elmira on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery. Donations in Ed’s memory may be directed to the Neo Natal Unit at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, 600 Roe Ave., Elmira NY 14905.
