John P. Edwards

Elmira: Age 58. John was born June 29, 1952, a son of the late Arland L. and Florence (Crusoe) Edwards. He is survived by his son Arland J. Edwards of Elmira; former wife, and devoted friend, April LaFontaine of Elmira; sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene L. Edwards of Elmira, Patricia A. and Roger Hamlin of East Lansing, MI; brother and sister-in-law, Robert B. and Karen Edwards of Elmira; brother, William L. Edwards, with Peter Anastos, of Boise, ID; nieces, Ashley Edwards of Rochester, Danielle Edwards of Elmira, Amanda Hamlin of Chicago; and nephew Eric Hamlin of Pittsburgh, PA. John was employed by the Elmira Psychiatric Center for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, music and college basketball, with Syracuse University being his favorite team. John had a great sense of humor and was a very unassuming man. He was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. The family will provide flowers.
