James Norman
Sharp
Elmira: Age 84, passed away Wednesday, November 16,
2011 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, with his loving family by his side. James was born January 21, 1927 a son of the
late Thomas V. and Alberta
(Gunderman) Sharp. In addition to his
parents he is predeceased by his wife Betty Kies Sharp, brothers, Ronald and
Edwin Sharp, sisters, Marian Torrence, Marjorie Sharp, and Joyce Huffner. James is survived by his children, Paula S.
Sharp, Robin L. McConnell, Thomas N. Sharp, all of Elmira, and Scott H. Sharp
of Wilmington DE; step daughter Carole A. Murray of Elmira; grandchildren, Amy
(Donnie) Ingham, Bethany (Dave Wilson) McConnell, Siana Sharp, Holly (Bill)
Jackson, and Kenneth (Amber) Murray; great-grandchildren, Jathan McConnell and
Austin Ingham; sister Janet McMahon of Elmira; along with several nieces,
nephews, and cousins. James was a proud
U S Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Auburn during
World War II. James was a carpenter and
worked for several companies in the Elmira
area. He most enjoyed sitting on his
front porch, watching the activity in his neighborhood. Friends
are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m. A funeral service will be held at
the conclusion of calling hours. Private
graveside services, with military honors, will be held at Forest Lawn
Memorial Park.
