Huber Fassett
“Dot”
Age
86, of Elmira, NY, passed away at the home of her daughter,
Beverly Fassett, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, September 18,
2010. Dorothy was born February 15, 1924
in Elmira, the
daughter of Francis Dewitt Huber and Lillian Goewey Huber. Dorothy married her beloved husband, and
friend, Raymond G. Fassett, whom she has dearly missed since his death in
2006. She is survived by her children,
Robert F. Fassett of Sarasota, FL
and Binghamton, Beverly M. Fassett of Binghamton, and Joanne F. Dalrymple, with husband David,
of Elmira;
grandchildren, Henry and Matthew Dalrymple.
Dorothy graduated from Elmira
Free Academy. She worked 33 years for the Hilliard
Corporation and retired in 1988 as Credit Manager. She was a fantastic cook; no one could make a
better apple pie. She loved the
outdoors, was a skilled gardener, and enjoyed the birds and other wildlife that
were frequent visitors to “Grandma’s Backyard.”
Dorothy also loved swimming, golfing, volunteering, camping, and
traveling with her family. After
retirement, Dot and Ray (and the dogs) traveled the USA in their RV. Dorothy was a dedicated wife, a wonderful
mother, and a fantastic grandmother. The
family would like to give special thanks to Lori Peterson, Nadine Glowacki, and
Joanna Walton for their love and compassion in caring for our mom. There
will be no calling hours. A Memorial
Service will be held at North Presbyterian Church, College Ave. and Irvine Place, Elmira,
on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
