Donald Philip Hanes, Sr.

Gillett PA: Age 55, passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, January 22, 2012, with his loving family by his side. Don was born in Wellsboro PA November 7, 1956, a son of Harry T. and Miriam (Clark) Hanes. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bettyjeanne Wood Hanes; son Donald P. Hanes, Jr. of Gillett; daughter Heatherlyn R. Hoose of Gillett with sons, Gavin Thomas and Ander Paul; sister, Katrina Hanes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lynn and Cathy Hanes with son Matthew; Thomas and Lori Hanes with daughter Alisa; Nathan and Priscilla Hanes; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Don worked as a machine operator at Anchor Glass for nearly 23 years. He was an avid fisherman. Don’s best times were those spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A service celebrating Don’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 708 Lena Place, (corner of Lena Place and Bancroft Road) Elmira.
