Diana L. Ryan

Age 64, of Elmira passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. Diana was born in Niagara Falls, NY, a daughter of the late Robert E. and Zelma R.(McDowell)Gooding. She was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law John G. and Margaret Ryan. Diana is survived by her husband of 43 years, J. Gerald Ryan; her three sons, Michael E. (Kristy) Ryan of Pine City with children John “J.T.” and Peyton Ryan; John S. (Deana) Ryan of Greensboro, NC and Thomas P. (Kim) Ryan of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Judy Gooding, Dottie (Reidar) Tholfsen and Linda Malara, sister-in-law, Marjorie (James) McFarland, nieces and nephews, Kathy (Tom) Minotti, J.R. (Cheryl) McFarland, Julie (Bill) Casbolt, Paul (Anne) Beach, Julie (Artie) Nichols and Andrew (Tina) Malara. Diana was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very caring individual who made friends wherever she went and put the needs of others before her own. She was the Vice President of John G. Ryan Inc. Her many special interests include crafts and card making. Family and friends are invited to call at the McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Elmira. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s and Paul’s Cemetery.
