Barbara D. Ryan

Elmira: Age 79, passed away peacefully at home, in the care of her loving family, on Monday, July 25, 2011. Barbara was born in Elmira on June 3, 1932, a daughter of Robert J. and Dorothy Brand DeLaney. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, John F. “Jack” Ryan; son and daughter-in-law, John Scott and Cynthia Ryan of Horseheads; daughter Kimberley Clark of Horseheads; grandchildren, Valerie (Christopher) Ward, Kara (Brandon) Sternquist, Garrett Ryan, Kristen (Daniel) Miller, Kelly (Richard) Anderson; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Sternquist, Payton Ryan, Taylor Cole-Miller, Dominick Miller and Kenzie Anderson; brother-in-law Robert Colucci of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara was predeceased by her brother Robert J. DeLaney Jr. and sister Joan Colucci. She had been an active member of the Junior League. Barbara enjoyed the outdoors and planting flowers in her garden. She was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Parish attending services at St. Patrick’s Church. Barbara’s most cherished time was that she spent with family. Family and friends may call at McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in memory of Barbara may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning NY 14830.
